The Two Towers continues
from the first epic film of the trilogy: The Lord of the Rings- The Fellowship
of the Ring. The Two Towers takes off after the Fellowship breaks up and
scatters into three different situations. Frodo, the Ringbearer, and his
good friend, Sam, go on their own, led by the creature Gollum, to destroy
the One Ring of power. Merry and Pippin are taken captive by a company
of Uruk-hai. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli go off on pursuit of the helpless
captives. Their search leads them to the besieged lands of the Rohirrim,
Rohan. There they learn from Gandalf, the wizard who supposedly was dead,
that Merry and Pippin were alright. Then they meet up with the Rohirrim
and in one desperate battle, where they were both outnumbered and outmatched,
the Battle of Helm's Deep, they fought strong and hard and won. This was
a turning point of the war.
